My son Jack has been using the ‘Colours Shapes Patterns’ Busy Book consistently over the past 18 months - and he still LOVES it! Our journey with Jack has been a little different - we primarily use the books to assist with early intervention therapy and to promote Jack’s speech and language development at home. I work closely alongside Jack to complete the activities, and not only have we already noticed a significant improvement in both his vocabulary and expressive language, but we also believe these books have improved his ability to hold focus on a task and engage in imaginative play. Jack has gone from just a few spoken words at the age of two (moderately delayed) to a large range of words and forming sentences at the age of three (assessed to be very mildly delayed) – we attribute a lot of this developmental growth to his Busy Books.

Grace Power –
This is definitely one of our favourite busy books, it is one that my 3yo is happy to sit and do on her own. She is confident in it, yet still gaining knowledge and building on her current knowledge.
Lee Dornan –
Very good
Angie – Mum to Charlie –
This is still one of the favourites that gets pulled out all the time by both our 2 year old and 4 year old. the activities are so inviting and fun, and we love that the activities provide a little challenge as they keep going to keep them engaged and progressing their learning. You know something is great when its not a short time toy/resource!
Kara Weatherall –
This is our original favourite busy book. We got this when my eldest was 2yrs old and his favourite page is the car page. We have now passed it on to my youngest and he also loves this busy book. I love watching my 2yrs grow his confidence with colours and shapes when he works his way though this book!

The concepts in the book are fantastic, with fun activities that are suitable for a variety of levels of capability.
The quality of the books are extraordinary and they are beautifully designed. Both my kids and I are always excited to play with it.
Kylie Steenholdt –
I cannot praise this book enough! My soon to be 3yr old had open heart surgery just before he turned one and it resulted in an acquired brain injury. Where he went from being advanced to a vegetable. He has since had weekly OT, Speech and physio therapy and this particular book has had a huge impact on his recovery. Not only has it helped him learn his colours and shapes (it was the only resource that presented it in a way, that he could retain), but it also helped improve his fine motor skills, cognitive development, attention span, problem solving, sitting, speech and it has also helped equip him for his assessments, where he needs sit and do book work (similar to busy books, but not as good), puzzles, problem solving etc.. This book has helped my son (and is continuing to) in his long recovery to rewire his brain. As well as teaching his older sister and I cant wait to introduce this book (and the others) to his younger brother! It’s also the only activity that my kids will happily do, while I get dressed or try to get something done!
Amy –
When we first got our busybooks (nearly a year ago) this was the absolute favourite of my little girl (3 at the time) she was able to sit and do it independently after our first time through it. Whenever i sat alongside her as she worked through it she was able to explain to me what the task was and explain how she solved it.
Andrea Cushway –
I bought this book for my 3.5yr old son who has GDD with significant speech delay plus extremely short attention span. He has done well so far as itâ??s kept his attention for short periods of time and itâ??s helping his colour and shape recognition. We will be getting some more shortly! Also it was very quick and easy for NDIS to pay directly to busy books and the book was sent out very promptly. Thanks!
Aston Thai –
Too small and too expensive
Not have instructions and description for what includes and how it should be used
Breanna –
Really happy with the quality of this busy book its going to be a fantastic Christmas present for my nearly 3yo
ADRIANA THOMANN –
My little 20 months old loves her book. The good quality is allowing the loose pieces to survive the less-than-gentle pulling and squashing my young toddler gives them. The Velcro system is quiet enough to not disturb if we seat at the back of the congregation while they’re all listening and although my toddler needs guiding to do the activities, I look forward to when she will do it all by herself and I will be able to listen to the whole sermon : )
Anthea Ailmore –
My 17 month old grandson loves it.
Thankyou so much for a wonderful product
Pamela Smith –
Thank you, Busybooks. My granddaughter of 20 months absolutely loves it, as does her parents.
It keeps her absorbed and interested. The joy on her face when she completes a task is absolutely precious.
Amira –
I work at an early intervention centre for children with Autism. I purchased this busy book to use with my students in my sessions and it has been fantastic! I also love the extra set of matching icons as they do get damaged over time ð?©µ
Sarah B –
This book is amazing my little girl it. Canâ??t wait to order her another book.
Kimberly –
My daughter loves this book! She enjoys matching up all the colours and shapes and itâ??s been great for her Learning
Hannah Wark –
I bought it because my daughter was showing interest in colours although she got them wrong as often as right, and she liked counting (1, 2, 2, 2, 1, 3) etc So I bought this book to help encourage her curiosity. Itâ??s her favourite game/activity now. At a least she thinks itâ??s a game. She now knows all her colours in less than 2 weeks (orange is her favourite) and even knows grey and black. She also counts and knows â??sameâ??. We absolutely love this book and canâ??t wait to purchase more!
Shaylee Bowes –
Hello we are very happy with this book. But I am sad about only one part of the book. We paid alot of money for this and the pg that had the multiple flowers and pots, some of the colours aren’t right…the shade of orange on a couple of them isn’t the right shade of orange and my kid is having trouble completing the pg because of it. But everything else is great and my kid is very interactive with it. Thanks
Nadine bell –
Amazing you gave my 2 and a half year old a voice he also has Asd level 2 and speech delay and GDD I never thought my son would pick up on these skills so quickly thank you for helping my son achieve his milestones
Cassandra Bennet –
I want the whole collection of these books ! My children absolutely love them and use them daily ! We even have this one at school to help him !
ANASTASIIA NESTEROVA –
My boy loves this book, heâ??s so excited to do the activities with colours and sometimes even hangs the book to me so I can go through them with him. Thereâ??s some activities that are still a bit hard for 18 mo, but anyways heâ??ll grow very soon to understand.
I think thereâ??s hips of creative activities and very happy with my purchase!
Mikaela K –
We bought this a few weeks ago and my toddler (2yr) loves doing the activities and trying to match colours and shapes. Still working on the patterns.
Ketsarin Steel –
My son just turn 2 years old this book is so great! He learns lots of thing, colours, shape, emotion etc., the most he like it Put the cars in the same colour of garage!!!ð???
Rebecca –
I purchased the colours, shapes and patterns busy book after seeing them advertised to me on instagram.
Kylee was incredibly helpful, always quick to answer any questions I had and was always so kind.
The quality of the book was beyond any expectations that I had.
It comes packaged in a beautiful box that’s great for storing and the extra pieces will come in handy too.
My son, who is almost 3, has enjoyed the book on numerous occasions already and it’s so great to see him sit for longer than 5 minutes and truly engage and be so proud of himself working his way though the pages and different activities.
We will definitely be purchasing more of the busy books in the future!
Kate Heath –
Purchased our first book and really impressed with the quality and difficulty of it. Will purchase more.
Anna –
I have bought digital downloads on etsy and tried create bust books myself, but the ones i purchased on this site are still my daughter’s favourites. they just work. good activities, good quality. excellent book to take when travelling for long flights and as a “new toy” for when staying somewhere else.
Amy –
Amazing Amazing Amazing!!
I bought 3 for my daughter and 2 nieces for their birthdays! They are used daily in all of our households! Perfect for quiet time, car journeys, meals out and home schooling!! My 4 year old has learnt so much from using the books!
You get a bag of replacements parts which is amazing!
Can’t recommend enough!!
Madison Zarantonello –
My son is nearly 2 and a very busy boy but the Colours, Shapes & Patterns busy book has kept him so occupied and helped improve his learning so quickly! Keeps him entertained for a bit which Iâ??m so surprised at but a great starting point for his age.
Highly recommend!
Layahl Darwich –
What a fantastic concept, so much opportunity to learn on every page. My 2 year old son picked up Colours so quickly. The quality is amazing
Sarah –
I have a two year son who is currently going through speech and OT and have had my eye on purchasing for awhile, I’m so glad I did! He really loves our busy book time together, he particularly loves the feelings page of different faces, as he doesn’t have alot of words yet he loves to make the different faces and even nodded to me twice when I asked him “is that the faces?” That was amazing to see from him! Im so happy he is enjoyng the feeling page as its increasing his social skills as well, which has bee a little hard for him. Recognising faces will help him identify and connect more with others. He loves to flick through the pages and and try to remove to pictures which is really helping his finer motor control! He loves cars and constantly knows where to find them. I have even noticed him babbling alot more when read together as we get it out and its just a special time to bond Absolutely buying more!! Next on our list is the little farm ð?§¡
Jessica Morvell –
Fantastic my son is 3 and has autism and this has been a great way for him to learn.
Rebecca T. –
Loving the interaction books.
I like how there are two copies of the images to use in the books.
Well thought out ð???
Kara Weatherall –
We have had this busy book for years. Both of my boys have absolutely loved it and itâ??s been well used. The quality is fantastic and the book still looks almost brand new. My three year old loves this book the most as he can independently do all the activities. I love how fun and colourful they are and how it helps him learn through play
Lauren Wong –
A great tool up your sleeve for appointments, long drives, quiet time etc. I wish I had bought it a little earlier as my 2 year old daughter is already very comfortable with her colours but she is still challenged by the second half of the book (with puzzles etc).
Agie Hughes –
Not only was this the perfect starter Busy Book when Audrey was 2 years old, perfect for her fine motor skills, sensory stimuli and developing mind, but now at 4 years old she still enjoys completing it independently! She can breeze through the numerous, colourful activities happily while I get things done around the house or enjoy a warm drink. The books are strong, sturdy and spill proof, definitely toddler proof! Sticky fingers? Just wipe the page and itâ??s good as new! The feel and sound of the velcro is also fun. I love that the pieces are numbered with the page they belong to so even if used for a play extension you can easily put them back. Theyâ??re perfect to use at home, in the car or take to cafes/restaurants. Genius!
Lisa Celi –
The Colours, Shapes Patterns Busy Book has been a game changer in my occupational therapy intervention. The book taps into the special interests of many of my young ASD clients so that I am more easily able to engage clients in sessions. Once clients are familiar with the books, I am able to add variation to how the child interacts with the books to keep it interesting i.e., I can use them in an obstacle course, lie them in the hammock on their stomach or hide pieces in the middle of a tunnel for them to find. The options of how to use this book are endless! Lisa Celi – OT
Amy A –
My 22 month old lives this book! It occupies him for hours and I love the spare bits in a bag! We take it everywhere with us and his happy to play page after page after page!
Cherie Neff –
This busy book has been a great resource to introduce to my 2 year old in such a fun way! Plus my 3yo not only brushed up on her knowledge, but also loved helping my 2yo learn ð???
Samanth Geddes –
My Daughter, 23months old. Absolutely loves this book. The sense of achievement she gets from having a go is so worth it. Love watching her little face light up.
Emma –
I bought the physical book, it’s beautifully contructed, the content is both easy and challenging. My package arrived in less than 4 days.
Oshadhi Wijekoon –
My baby is 2.5 years and he loves this book. It keeps him engaged for quite a while. Good activity to do together with my baby.
Thank you.
Sam Hill –
My daughter uses this and the alphabetical, numbers and writing skills. She is 3 years old and has been using them both since she was 2. She has learned so much from these books and I look forward to introducing more of the books to her. I was putting similar activities together myself before I came across these and it worked out to be time consuming and ended up costing more by the time a laminated and added the Velcro tabs and the activities just were not as good so these are perfect
Jessica Mallin –
This was an absolute god send for when my second baby was born, I would set up the page for my 19mo do one or two for her then she would push my hand away to do it herself. I was able to feed the baby or do stuff all while my lil girl was learning and enjoying her self. God send for wet weather days too.
Linsey Groves –
I cannot speak highly of these books enough. As a high school teacher and mother to a very active little boy with little patience for ‘sit down’ activities, these books have been wonderfully engaging. There is clearly scaffolded learning that has gently given him the confidence and want to learn. It is wonderful to hear his teachers comment on how many colours and shapes he confidently knows and the work on his fine motor skills and I can attribute this largely to the time we have spent together learning from these books. I will continue to purchase these for him to keep encouraging his love of learning. Thank you busy books for inspiring my boy
Janessa DOCKING –
I love my time home with my daughter, but some days I am not here for paint or cutting or textas. Thank goodness for these busy books! They’re tidy but engaging, they’re fun but educational, they tick all my teacher hat boxes while still being able to keep my house and sanity in a usable state! My daughter learnt and consolidated her colours with this book! Brilliant!
Isabella –
We purchased this for my sonâ??s 2nd birthday back in July and have been using this a few times a week since. Absolutely worth every cent and more! This is the book that made me fall in love with Busy Books and I honestly believe they are so open ended and offer so much to children. My son knows all his colours and almost all his shapes and can transfer the recognition of those to everyday life now. He holds value to his Busy Books and calls them his special learning books. He always asks to learn everyday and has so much fun while learning with the book. I would give more than 5 stars if possible. We save money for more books!
Grace Cooper –
This is the book I recommend my friends start with. My almost 3 year old loves it and then my 6 year old helps with the more complicated ones.
Jade Perez –
I was hesitant at first at purchasing the busy book for my toddler due to the price and that my 2 year old doesn’t stay entertained for too long! I purchased the colours shapes and patterns busy book as I loved how educational it is and how it can be reused. My son absolutely LOVES his busy book and I was shocked at how engaged he is over and over again with it. He has learnt all of his colours and shapes so fast from using this book and I love how we can reuse it again and again!
After receiving the book I also realised why the pricing is what it is due to the quality, extra stickers for the book in case you lose any and as the book is laminated and bound. We loved the busy books so much we also purchased the Farm busy book. Again he has learnt so much from animal recognition to counting and sizing. It’s so great seeing them learn so much!
I know for sure that the busy books will be a staple in our home for the kids learning and I’m so glad we have found such a product that me and my children love and can have so much fun engaging with.
I look forward to expanding our busy book collection and can’t wait to gift more of them to my children due to the amazing learning benefits.
We also just downloaded the Christmas busy book which is amazing and so perfect put in the Xmas gift box and get them in the Christmas spirit. highly recommend!
We 100% recommend the busy books to all friends and family who always ask where we got it from as my Son is so good with it. Thanks so much Busy Books for making such a great resource for our little ones!
Emma Schouten –
Bought the colours and shapes busy book for my 2yo chrissie present, what a great educational yet fun and interactive book. Sheâ??s finding the first few pages reasonably easy at the moment and as you turn the pages the challenges/games increase in difficulty. Perfect for her age and development!
Jaimi Gallagher –
My daughter received this book for her 2nd birthday last week and since day one has absolutely loved it.
It is one of the only toys she will sit down and play with for lengths of time and she pulls it out most mornings to do after breakfast.
She practices by saying the colours as she moves them over to their correct position on the page. It has also improved her knowledge of shapes as she can now identify and say each of the shapes in the book as well as identifying them in the environment around her.
The book is also really helpful for me to encourage her learning in a fun and exciting way.
Thank you!
Emma N –
Our toddler got some money for Christmas and so we decided to order their first busy book. We chose this one from the age guide and waited. When it arrived we were blown away by the quality of the product and how beautifully it was presented. I was unsure how my 2.5yr old would take to this kind of learning as we hadn’t engaged in something that required a little more concentration than simply reading a book. But I need not have worried as they sat and successfully completed the first several pages without instruction. They loved it and because we treated the book as a special one on one time with Mummy, it has been a daily request to sit and complete. We completed the entire book together over about 4 sessions. I then ordered another two books which we are eagerly waiting for but I will now go back and reset their book so we can start it again while we wait for our new books to arrive. If you’ve been hesitating because of cost, it’s worth it in our opinion. I’m so glad we ordered our first book. It’s blown us away how much our child already knows and how much they absorb from this form of learning.
kim brodie –
We love our busy books even for my 2 year old р??Ќ we especially love the colours/ shapes and pattern busy book.
Stacey –
We love our Busy Book! My 2.5yo daughter is Deaf with Cochlear Implants and we consciously work on her language acquisition. The Busy Books help us to explore concepts in a fun and interactive way, while repeating words over and over again.
Renee d’Offay –
We have been using this colours and patterns book with our clients and it’s awesome seeing the positive recognition of the different colours as they move the pieces over.
We sign the colours together first then can observe their receptive and expressive skills ð???
Teaghan –
Absolutely love this busy book! It is so engaging and fun for your little one! My two year old son has quite the short attention span but when he gets out his busy book, he doesnâ??t want to put it away. The range of activities fosters for different interest but also sparks conversation around different areas of learning. His favourite part of the book have to be matching the cars to the coloured garage and the land, sea and sky.
Lauren North –
Our 2 year old daughter loves this book, and can concentrate on this alone for at least 20 minutes which is impressive for her! Believe me! I love that the book starts off easy and gets more challenging and the best part, it comes with spare peices! Super practicable! thank you so much!
Rebecca T. –
What an incredible experience!
Lets children become and gain so much knowledge in completely different activities.
It broadens their knowledge by learning about different concepts.
I love the way in which my son has enjoyed using the book and demonstrating how much he has learnt in a short period of time.
He gets absolutely excited when he has completed an activity.
I also love how the book is set out for example, pictures on one side and the activity on the other pages so they can complete the activity.
I also like there are spare pictures included with the book.
Heather –
Finally! Something to help get my three year old son through our long car trips. Itâ??s the perfect ability for him to do independently. I love that it comes with spare tabs incase you lose some which meant it didnâ??t send me into to much of a frenzy when I saw some misplaced temporarily.
Jess –
Obsessed!
I’m so obsessed with busy books! Purchased my first one for my 15month old son to get a head start on colours and patterns and already he loves it, he will happily do a few pages of matching the colours and helping me push them into place. Cannot wait to get more in the future!!!

Love it
Easily our most loved busy book. Bought originally when my now almost 4 year old was 2 and it has had so much love. The fact that the pages become more difficult means that it’s really grown with her. My now almost 2 year old has started using it and is also as equally obsessed! We also taken it with us traveling and has been a great tool to keep them busy while on the plane/in the car

This was one of the first Busybooks we had and Arla started doing it when she was just over 1. First she just liked moving the pieces but it wasn’t long until she started recognising the colours shapes and patterns. She is now 5 and this one still gets used. Is a great book to start a little ones Busybook journey.

Wonderful book my 3yo is obsessed with
This book has brought learning and fun back into our homes. My girls loved using this book, the colours and the language they were learning was incredible. My 3yo often grabs this book when its quiet time/rest time and after her bath. She just enjoys creating patterns, the colours and showing me each time. It’s been beautiful to watch her enjoy learning.

This has been a fabulous resource! Whether using it independently or with an adult my 2 year old has a great time. I was blown away with the quality and am impressed with how many goals we can achieve with one product. This book covers a lot of the skills for school entry.
Emily –
We’ve been using this for my daughter since 18 months- she’s now 3. She loves this book and it was the perfect way to teach her colours in a fun way. Now she is able to sit independently and do the activities in this book which buys me some time to enjoy my coffee in peace.

This Busy Book is a game-changer! The attention to detail and vibrant, high-quality materials used throughout make it an absolute must-have for any parent or educator. Each page is thoughtfully designed to capture the child’s interest, making learning a fun and interactive experience.
The variety of exercises ensures that children can work on different skills, from colour identification to matching shapes, and emotions, and even understanding where vehicles belong (land, air, or water).
The pages are sturdy and durable, which is essential for little hands that love to explore. The interactive nature of the book, with pieces that can be moved around, is fantastic for enhancing fine motor skills and encouraging hands-on learning.
I especially love how the book integrates fun with education, making it suitable for a wide age range. Whether it’s identifying vehicles, matching emotions, or recognizing shapes, this Busy Book has it all. The addition of creative elements like parking cars in garages or matching colorful shapes to lollipops adds a unique twist that keeps children engaged and excited to learn.
Overall, this is an exceptional resource that makes learning joyful and effective. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an interactive, educational tool that children will love and parents will appreciate. Five stars all the way!

As an early years teacher, I used the Colours, Shapes, Patterns Busy Book with my son (almost 2 years old). He was able to engage with the Busy Book for a sustained amount of time (longer than I expected!) and he was keen to explore other activities in the book too. The Busy Book is of such a high quality which is great for younger children and longevity of use. I found the content to be relevant for a range of ages (could definitely use this with my Year 1 class at school in small groups or 1:1 time). The specific activities (2,4) that I have used so far connects to the learning that we are teaching at school, specifically with some children who may be need further differentiation and consolidating gaps in their learning.
I noticed that my son:
– Had improved concentration and focus
– Consolidated his knowledge of some Auslan sings (connected to other learning)
– Improved his fine motor control with using the labels with Velcro dots
